7 Years

On June 22nd we celebrated our 7th anniversary. Sadly, Marty was in Seattle and Sarah was in Sacramento with Jack & Bryce. However, we got the opportunity to have a specail anniversary weekend in Seattle. Grandma watched the boys and Marty and Sarah enjoyed an action packed weekend. On Saturday we ran in the Rock and Roll half marathon. We surprised our selves and ran the whole way averaging about 12 minute miles. On Sunday evening we had the most amazing dinner at The Herbfarm!

Doctor Dillard

Our trip to California has been the perfect opportunity for us to spend time with family and friends, but the reason we came when we did was to celebrate Scott's graduation from UC Davis. Marty's younger brother, Scott, earned his PhD in computer science. Scott finished up the last two years working full-time, while balancing his rolls as father, husband, and grad-student. We are so impressed! Yeah Scott!

The best part was all the time that the kids got to spend together. Jackson loved hanging out with Uncle Ben, and he enjoyed getting reacquainted with his cousin Noah.

We got the cousins matching shirts. They had the best time playing together!

Debut

Jack's debut was today. He was a Howler Monkey in his preschool play. He was suppose to say the line, "Why are you so slow" to the sloth, his best buddy Isaac. He froze up, but he did howl and make monkey sounds.

Bryce is 9 Months

This age is great, but bitter sweet. Bryce is rapidly developing from baby to toddler. He loves exploring, following Jack and being in the center of the action. He can stand up using objects, and loves to walk holding on to our fingers. He really enjoys meal time. He loves all the new tastes and textures we present him with. The great part is that as we introduce food to Bryce, Jack who is super picky, is redeveloping a taste for foods he formerly rejected.

Photos of a busy guy!

Bryce and his favorite lovie!

We took Bryce for his 9 month check up on Tuesday. He weighs 24.02 pounds and is 89th percentile, and 29.5 inches tall and is in the 81st percentile. His head is off the charts. Bryce has giant thighs and big arm rolls. I find that when I take him places strangers feel perfectly comfortable telling me all their thoughts on his size. Some even grab his arms and squeeze them (strangers, please don't touch my baby), friends, squeeze away, it is pretty fun. I even had a friend ask me if I have considered feeding him low fat yogurt and more fruits and veggies. I feed Bryce all nutritious foods. I actually make most of his food myself, more of than I did for Jack. He eats tons of fruit and veggies, only take 3 bottles a day, sleeps through the night (yeah) he just enjoys eating! Can you tell I am sensitive about his size? So, if you see him, please don't suggest a diet, he is healthy, very active, and a happy guy. Thank you!

Bryce graduated from his baby tub. This is his first time in the big tubby.

Cama Beach, Memoral Day

Our friends the Newsum's invited us to their favorite Camping local. It was a perfect opportunity for us to try camping with 2 little boys and evaluate if this is a possible hobby for us this summer. We stayed in a tiny cabin on Lopez Island looking out on the Puget Sound. The cabin had a sink, microwave, small refridgerator, and two full sized beds. Jack got one bed to him self and Marty, Sarah & Bryce shared the other. Turns out we're not ready for tent camping. Bryce did not like being sandwiched between Marty and myself. So Marty went to sleep with Jack. Jack did not want Marty to sleep with him because Marty's snoring bothered him. Poor Daddy was not welcome in either bed, but eventually Bryce settled down to sleep and so did Jack (at 3am). Verdict: Not ready for tent camping!

Everything else was perfect! The camp site was awesome, Valerie created a little home in her cabin, and fed us a great dinner. The kids enjoyed searching for sea shells, rocks, and fishing. Even the weather was great!

Our Cabin was "Lucky Number 7"

Jack was forced to come to our rescue when we discovered at 9pm that we were locked out of our cabin. When the kids were falling asleep Joe, Valerie, Marty and myself enjoyed the sunset in chairs out side our little cabins (that were side by side). When we decided to call it a night, our cabin door was locked. The Park Rangers had gone home and there was no way into our locked cabin. We went to the window near Jack's bed and called and called for him to wake up. As you can guess, he was in a rare deep sleep and would not budge. After yelling his name for 10 minutes he woke up and stumbled to the door, tried to open it and went back to bed. We then called and called and he returned to the door and successfully opened it. Yeah Jack!

Mother's Day

Mother's Day was so long ago, but I don't want to forget it, so I am finally blogging about it. Marty, Jack & Bryce got up early and snick to my favorite place Starbucks. They got my favorite drink, made me & Grandma (who was in town) a delicious breakfast, and we all went to church. It was low key but perfect! My favorite gift was the card Marty picked out, which was so fitting and sweet. I scanned it, so here it is:

The inside says:
"I'm cool with that.
Happy Mother's Day from the other side of the bed."

Since it was morning, I was not really photo ready, but as a mom I'm hardly ever camera ready regardless.

This is us just before church. Bryce looked cute too, but was napping, so we never got to take a picture of the boys together in their cute little church clothes.

Sadly, I did not get a picture of my mom & myself. Although, the moms had a great day!
