Nana

Marty's mom came to Seattle this week. She arrived on Sunday. She will stay until October 9th. She is helping Sarah fly to California with both kids. We sure have kept her busy since her arrival. On Sunday we had beautiful weather and we all took a trip to nearby Seward Park.

Grandma

Sarah's mom came to stay with us for 2 and a half weeks just after Bryce was born. She came on the 6th and stayed until the the 24th of September. We're not sure what we would have done with out her. Marty is on a traveling project. Since Bryce was born he has been traveling out to S. Carolina every Monday through Wednesday.

Grandma took Jack to the Seattle Aquarium as a special treat.

They went to see Mud Man. Jack is a Mud Man groupie. Mud Man's assistant recognized Jack from his last Mud Man visit at the Seattle Zoo. She even commented, "Hey you got a hair cut since we saw you last."

Perfectionist?

I have been on a mission to get the "perfect" picture of Bryce for his baby announcement. Marty's dad, Mike, stopped in on Thursday to meet Bryce (while he was passing through Seattle in route to Bellingham). He noticed the announcements I was working on and told this story:
Mike and Ben (Marty's 7 year old brother) were driving in the car. Mike was trying to explain to Ben the meaning of a perfectionist. Mike said "Ben, it comes from the root word perfect. A perfectionist is some one who like things just so. They like things to be perfect." Ben stops and thinks this over; then proclaims, "Oh, I know, like Sarah. She's a perfectionist!"
Ben stayed with us for 3 weeks this summer so I guess he might have picked up on my tendency to like everything just so. Poor Bryce has picked up on this tendency too. For the past week (almost daily) I have been trying to capture the "essence of Bryce." Here are some of the pictures I didn't choose.

The picture I finally decided on, is not "perfect" but my obsession with a perfect photo had to end!

Bryce is 1 week old

We have had the pleasure of one week getting acquainted with our newest family member. So far Bryce seems to be a mellow guy. He sleeps a ton, eats a lot, and enjoys watching big brother Jack play.

Skuut

Jack loves his new Skuut bike! We have been taking a ride everyday at about 4pm. The added bonus is Seattle has been having the most amazing weather!

Prayers

Last night little Bryce said prayers before bed with Jack.

He must have gotten the hang of it,because he was sleeping like this later.

Gifts

A few of our friends recommended having Bryce give his new big brother Jack a gift. Jack also got a gift for his baby brother Bryce. I wonder how Bryce will feel some day when he realizes Jack got a bike and he got socks and a banana?

Brothers

Jack spent last night with the Newsum family. Valerie, Hailey & Jack came to the hospital to meet little Bryce. Jack was excited to meet his baby brother. Jack was so sweet and gentle. When Bryce began to cry Jack & Hailey sang him the ABCs. Bryce stopped crying and seemed to enjoy meeting his big brother.

Welcome Bryce Michael Dillard!

We were thrilled to welcome Bryce into our family at 5:54 PM on September 5. He weighed in at 8 pounds and 13 ounces and measured almost 21 inches. He was perfectly healthy and has been eating and sleeping comfortably since yesterday.

Sarah is doing great. Everything went really smooth and we are hoping to take Bryce home early this evening. Jackson is coming to meet his new brother this afternoon.

Just look at all of that hair!!!

School

Today was Jack's first day of preschool. Last year he went to school too, but Mommy was his teacher. This year he is going to school 3 mornings a week all by himself.

Jack was excited to start school. It was hard to get a good picture of him, because he was so excited to get in the car, and then when we got to school he ran to the door and would only pose for a few pictures.
